Share the note.
Nothing changes for you — send the link or QR as usual.
The recipient is told first.
Before they reveal the note, the viewer says plainly: the sender will be notified when this note is opened. No silent tracking, ever.
Read the receipt.
When they reveal it, your iPhone gets a generic push — "A note was opened." — and the Sent tab records the opened-at time. Up to five of your devices can register for a note's notifications.
Verify it worked.
- The viewer shows the receipt notice before Reveal.
- Your phone receives the generic push when the note is opened.
- The Sent tab lists the opened times under the note.
Common questions.
What does the push notification contain?
The text "A note was opened." and the note's random ID — nothing else. No note content or settings transit Apple's servers.
Why didn't a push arrive?
Check that notifications are allowed for BurnPony and that the receipt was toggled on before creation. Either way, the Sent tab always shows the recorded times when you open it.
Can receipts be silent?
No. Disclosure to the recipient is part of the feature's design, not an option to disable.
